Hotel near UNC for the business traveler I was in Chapel Hill for a meeting at UNC and chose this Hampton location as it was close to campus. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast offered a good mix of hot and cold options. The coffee was hot and fresh. I am still confused with the $10 plus $1.50 fee customers are required to pay (separate from the hotel bill) to park in an open parking lot with no valet or physical security on site. Apparently, several of the chain hotels near campus require this charge. It makes no sense at all.

This hotel charges for parking! We stayed here a year ago and liked it. But this year? First the good: the staff was friendly & helpful. Now the bad: this hotel now charges $11.50/ night to park in an open lot. It must be paid using a QR code. Why? We were told “security”. This is not a secured garage behind a gate, it’s just an open lot. It seems like this Hampton Inn is using a parking fee to raise the price without changing the room rate.

Some plusses and some areas for improvement On the plus side, the room (on the backside of the hotel) was very quiet and comfortable, the woman at the front desk during check in was very welcoming and subsequently helpful with a room problem we had, and breakfast was good. Regarding areas for improvement, the hotel overall feels dated and a bit worn; the guest room smelled a little musty; the exercise room did not smell very clean and one of the two treadmills was out of service; and the woman at the front desk who checked us out was rather brusque, seeming put out by my request for a copy of the bill and saying almost nothing (no greetings, no thanks) before turning away to do something else. Not a big deal, but I mention it because I see some reviews saying that the staff is great and some saying that the staff is unhelpful, and it seems that I experienced a little of each. Overall, just "average" for a Hampton Inn.

Bad Hotel I had a bad experience at the Hampton inn and Suites Hotel. The shower and bathroom flooded. It was very dangerous standing in water to us hair dyer. The front desk was no help. I ask manager to give me a call. The manager never called. I called Corporate I have not got a call from Corporate. I am confused about what 100 percent satisfaction guarantee means.

Elevator and Front Desk The lady at the front was very disrespectful! We brought it to her attention that the elevator in this building hadn’t been checked since 2022 (which is terrifying!) and she said “there’s nothing I can do about it” with a terrible attitude! of course *I* can’t do anything about it, but she could 100% reach out to her manager and let them know! so disrespectful!
