The Godfrey Hotel Chicago

Great hotel, great service Beautiful hotel in great location. Excellent service, particularly Hugo and Valeria at the front desk. The rooms are comfortable, the rooftop bar is nice, and everything was clean and well kept. I certainly would stay again on another trip to Chicago!

Severely disappointed Very underwhelmed by our stay here. There were a lot of contributing factors ranging from a very lackluster check-in experience, and lobby all the way up to our room and overall experience. Check-in wasn’t bad by any means but there was no one else checking in or waiting to be received by the attendant, and they really gave a “meh” impression. I don’t expect a red carpet roll out but if I can get a better experience from a Best Western, that’s kind of a problem. We proceeded up to our room which was a king suite, and it was… bland. Mismatched furniture with no theme. End table was damaged and unsightly, and there were no conveniently located outlets for device charging. Another weird thing I have never seen before was a separation between the mattress and wall mounted headboard. Pillows were incredibly uncomfortable and the bed made a thunderous crack sound when I first laid down, weighing all of 150lbs. The worst offense regarding the stay itself was how dry the hotel was. Both my partner and I woke up at about 6am with super dry nasal passages and sore throats, which for me personally lingered a few days. Service at the rooftop bar wasn’t much better. Sat at the bar on a Monday with 2 people behind and a few servers and took over 5 minutes to even be greeted. Once greeted we did place a cocktail order that was prompt but the lack of attention compared to other patrons, virtually none, was disappointing. For a hotel that bills itself as upscale I was severely let down. I have had better suites at places like Double Tree, and better service from significantly lesser billed establishments. I’m sure our experience varies from others but we will not return, and I can’t in good conscious recommend The Godfrey.

They went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, offering exceptional service with a warm and friendly attitude that made my stay even more enjoyable. The hotel itself is fantastic, but Valeria and Hugo’s dedication and attentiveness really set the bar high. Perfect spot in the Windy City Valeria and Hugo were helpful checking me in after a hectic flight (and rideshare) to get to Chicago. The bed and pillows were super comfy. Love the countertop space in the bathroom. The location is perfect in River North with a bunch of restaurants and bars as well as a Hop On/Hop Off bus nearby. Just wish I had more time outside of work to enjoy the stunning view from the roofscape!

Great night! Great hotel, service, and restaurant! The concierge and workers were great and made the whole stay feel like home. Also comfortable beds and great showers. I would absolutely stay here again in my next trip to Chicago and will recommend it to friends.
