Worst Experience This place needs to be shut down. Checked in a week ago by a guy with dreads that smelt and looked high. I had to move my room 3 times because of the tv not working and the carpet was nasty. Checked out early next morning and Brittany the "manager" promised me a refund which I have yet to receive. She never apologized for what happen just seemed careless and wanted me gone. Smh place needs new management

Not recommended We spent one night in this hotel as it was near a relatives wedding. I would never stay in this hotel again. The front desk check in was fine. The room, however, was not. We found several roaches in the room. We captured one of roaches and took it to the front desk. They moved us to another room right away. This hotel looks tired and dated. The carpets look dingy and are in need of replacement.

Check elsewhere first! This hotel seems to be near nothing. Unless you are visiting family that lives near or he Surratt Museum check elsewhere. This is a well worn hotel They had no one who knew how to process my prepayment. Therefore I was charged again. The lock on my door would not work, it is just worn out. The carpet was nasty. On the last day, the maid only left one towel for two people, when I called the front desk, they hung up on me, then would not answer the phone after that. Upon check out, they charged my credit card and said no manager was on duty. Some of the staff seemed nice but none were empowered to help. Note, there is a $8.00 charge for the standard hotel breakfast.

Last-minute stay Needed somewhere to lay my head and found it at the Colony South. It was short notice and they were very accommodating and friendly. I found the hotel to be really nice, and a quaint place for a couples getaway. It was convient to shopping, metro and easy access to the city.

You May Want to Stay Elsewhere! This hotel was recommended to me by a valued friend because it was only 5 minutes away from where I needed to be. On one of the hottest day of the year, I checked in on 7/19/19 around 5:15-5:30 PM. There was no Bell Captain service to assist with my luggage; I had to get the dirty luggage cart myself! Upon check-in is was told there would be a $100 incidental fee applied to credit card. (I offered cash but they refused to take it) Pushing and pulling the wobbled wheel luggage cart for, what seemed like two blocks, I arrived at the first room. It was not what I expected as I requested a king size bed and it smelled like cheap cologne! No way would I rest my body in there. I made FOUR trips, pushing and pulling an uncooperative dirty luggage cart. Two of the rooms they sent me to didn't have working air conditioners! The front desk staff blamed the housekeeping staff for turning on the heat---no so. They blew hot air in the A/C mode! Finally, I pushed and pulled my way to a room that had a king size bed and working A/C. The carpet stains where ridiculous! Before I opened my suitcase, I Googled the nearest Walmart so I could purchase a pair of slippers. I refused to put my bare feet on those carpets! Remember, I said it was one of the hottest days of the year in the DC area. I inquired about using the indoor pool. "It's a $5.00/day fitness fee!" is what I told. Seriously?? My mind convinced me that it probably wasn't clean either and taking a cool shower could be as refreshing. Except, the shower handle came off in my hand when I went to use it!!! Upon check out, I review the bill and once again inquire about the "incidental fee." "You will see it reversed by Tuesday." Today is Thursday and I call the hotel. The rudest front desk manager informed me that it would take "7 to 10" days to be released from hold! I was livid! I reminded her that it did not take "7 7 to 10 days for them to get paid by me, I should not have to wait that long for them to reverse a fee. That's when she said, "You just don't understand, good bye." Refusing to let her go, I said, "Excuse me, your front desk clerk said it would be released by Tuesday." "It will be released in 7 to 10 days you have to be patient. And if you have a problem you'd better contact your bank." Well, American Express is not a bank, it's a multinational financial services company. And I did call them. The charges have been released! Don't leave home without Amex in your pocket! Things happen right? People make mistakes, give you incorrect information, etc. But no one should be rude and nasty to their clients. If this is the best that Colony South has to offer, shame on them and shame on you if you stay here!
