A Coastal Gem Half Moon Bay is easily one of the most serene places on Earth—and nestled along its working harbor lies a hotel so charming, “charming” barely does it justice. My weekend stay at the Oceano Hotel was nothing short of blissful. To call it peaceful and relaxing would be a serious understatement. Here’s why I’ll absolutely be coming back: • Convenient underground parking with an elevator that takes you straight to the lobby—zero hassle. • Warm, welcoming staff who greeted me with genuine smiles and made me feel right at home. • A spacious, beautifully furnished room that struck the perfect balance between luxury and comfort—it truly felt like my own personal retreat. • Thoughtful in-room amenities: a mini fridge stocked with chilled bottled water, Starbucks espresso capsules, and a Keurig machine (a small but delightful highlight for a coffee lover like me). • An ultra-luxurious king bed with buttery soft, high-thread-count bamboo sheets that made it nearly impossible to get up in the morning. • An on-site shopping court offering great food, sweet treats, and one of the coziest local breweries I’ve ever visited—Hop Dogma. (Do yourself a favor and try their Double IPA. Trust me.) I’m already counting down the days until I can return, breathe in that soul-recharging ocean air, and unwind once more at the Oceano.

Luxury resort felt like an assisted living facility I was expecting a luxury resort experience but our stay was reminiscent of an overnighter at a retirement/assisted living facility. We checked in and the front desk agent was friendly but didn't tell us she had "upgraded" us to a different room than what I booked. To me, an upgrade means a better room. Not in this case. We were given room 116 which is a handicapped room the ground floor just down the hall from the lobby. Handicapped bars all over the bathroom and the handicapped shower stool was very off putting. The table in the sitting area only had one chair, allowing a wheelchair to roll up and park itself at the table too I assume. While I certainly appreciate these wheelchair accessible modifications and accommodations for the handicapped or elderly, I do not enjoy staying in a room like this on holiday. It's depressing and a foreshadowing that offends me when I'm trying to enjoy a vacation in my present good health. Most importantly, these rooms should be kept available for people that actually need these accommodations. And when you're given a different room than what you booked because the "fireplace didn't work" I think you should make sure the guest is comfortable with the room switch and that it's not actually a downgrade. Also there were no bathrobes provided which is an expectation of a resort and spa hotel. I was disappointed and would not stay here again for what we paid.

The Oceano Hotel in Half Moon Bay, California is my go -to place for R&R The Oceano Hotel in Half Moon Bay is my go-to place for relaxation and regeneration. As you arrive and check in, the hotel calls for you to relax with its welcoming check in staff, its beach themed public Great Room and its cozy and comfortable rooms with their fireplaces and balconies overlooking the HMB harbor. Once in place, you find yourself at the trailhead of a delightful 10-mile beach and cliff walk along the ocean which you can access simply by walking out the door. Plus, there are many great forest trails in easy walking distance and lots of convivial pubs and restaurants close by. Oceano Hotel is a true gem on the San Mateo Coast.

Wedding Weekend We were here for celebratory wedding weekend with many out of town guest. The wedding venue and catering were excellent. The location is right on the harbor with a handful of restaurants and craft brew places in walking distance We had a room at the “inn” which was not as nice as the main building. Our room was off the main road and there was associated noise. The room itself was adequate but old. Updating it, especially the bathroom is advisable.
