Do NOT go to Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana I will never go to this resort again. There were bugs in our room which got into our suitcases. The staff sprayed bugs spray all over the room and on our belongings. After they sprayed everything the staff just walked out. We contacted management and they said accommodations would be made. When we checked out they acted like nothing had every happened.

The staff is the best thing about the hotel The best thing about the hotel is the staff. They are all amazing and working very hard whilst always smiling. The entertainment team was fabulous. Thank you to Chocolate, Loly and Wow for making our kids time at the resort such a fantastic experience. We all had such a laugh with you and it was great to get to know you. The resort dancers were also brilliant, our daughter came back with some great moves. The bar and restaurant staff was also very good. Emilio at the preferred club pool was hilarious and very attentive. The setting around the pool and the gardens was lovely as well as the Christmas decorations. The hotel is quite small so it gives it a family friendly, cosy feel and we felt very safe. We were able to go to our chosen restaurant every given night and the waiting time for tables were minimal. We particularly enjoy the Italian and the Japanese restaurants. The banana bread at the coco cafe was so good. We were lucky to have access to the barefoot grill at lunchtime otherwise I think we would have struggled with lunchtime food around the pool as there was not a big selection around the main pool. The main thing that lets the hotel down are the rooms. We were originally located by mistake to block 9. The bathrooms in these rooms need a complete makeover. The shower heads are dirty, the tiles dirty and discoloured, sinks broken and there is no partition between the toilet and the shower room. The toiletries are non existent. The fridge in the rooms don’t work and badly stocked. We were fortunate to be moved to preferred club rooms. The rooms are much nicer, the bed very comfortable and the bathrooms in a much better state. However, the toiletries were still not to the standard of a 5 star hotels. The bottles of shampoo and shower gel get refilled and look very tired. They don’t always get refilled, we had to request some additional toiletries on a few occasion. The fridge work in the preferred rooms but again it is not stocked to a 5 star standard, only a few bottles of water and pop. The other cons to the hotel was the lack of drink selection even in the preferred club in terms of flavoured gins, vodkas etc. The cocktails were however very nice

Wonderful, tropical feel resort This resort has beautiful grounds with a lot of lush vegetation and tall, mature trees. The pools are large, and there always seems to be a chair somewhere. The beach was very popular with everyone, however due to a recent storm had a significant amount of seaweed. The resort had people working dusk to dawn to get rid of it however, and after four days it was pretty much cleared up. We ate in the Japanese restaurant and the French restaurant although most meals were in the extensive buffet. Across the board the food was very good. The buffet offered a country themed service each night so there was lots of variety. Entertainment was good, with Karaoke drawing huge crowds and a beach party that was fabulous. The room we had overlooked the main pool and had the sun for half the day. It was very nice to be able to sit on the balcony and enjoy the nice weather. Bar service around the pools and on the beach was good. The beach had a couple of servers that would circulate regularly and you seldom had to wait. We were told the resort was closing for renovations at the end of December as it was bought by the Hyatt chain. Hopefully they can refresh the buildings and make the resort what they want without destroying the lush grounds or the atmosphere of a tropical island.

2-3 stars at best First off, I'd like to recognize that the service and employees at this resort were wonderful, friendly and helpful. Vacationed here in early January with my daughters and our room was so humid that our clothes were damp all the time. Our sheets were itchy and we had a ton of mosquitoes in our room. We checked in and our room didn't have soap, shampoo or even a box of tissues. When I asked for conditioner, I was told that it was a shampoo/conditioner combination when clearly the shampoo bottle was labeled with just with shampoo. It was watery and barely kept our hair clean. The resort boasted 5 specialty restaurants, French, Italian, Mexican, Japanese and a Seafood restaurant. On any given night, only one specialty restaurant was open along with the buffet. We never got to try some of the restaurants because they were closed most of the time. The food was mediocre and there were not many options. The activities were just about non-existent by the pool and there was one show in the evening, which was entertaining. The area for the beach was very narrow and small. Definitely disappointing stay for a World of Hyatt resort. If we ever go back to DR, we definitely will look for 5 star hotels and above.
