Practical, Honest Review for Travelers Who Know What to Expect We had a great 7-night stay. At first, we considered booking a luxury resort for our honeymoon, but ultimately chose this hotel because we’re practical travelers who prioritize cleanliness, thoughtful service, and a convenient location over luxury extras. It made much more sense for us to save our money for other experiences on the island, since the hotel was, for us, a comfortable place to return to and unwind at the end of each day. If you’re looking for a safe, reliable, and well-situated place to stay after a full day of exploring, this is an excellent choice. CHECK-IN & STAFF SERVICE From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and attentive. Although we did not use valet, a valet attendant immediately approached us, ready to assist. A bellhop or manager greeted us near the entrance and guided us to the front desk, where a friendly staff member checked us in, explained all the amenities included with our stay, and answered our questions. Everyone we encountered throughout the week was courteous, professional, and genuinely kind. Housekeeping deserves special mention for how clean and thorough they were. Our room was well-maintained each day. If you need anything, you can simply ask the staff in the hallway rather than going through the front desk. They were consistently helpful and attentive. Housekeeping provides light cleaning each day, with a more thorough cleaning provided on the third day. If you keep the privacy sign on through that day, they will leave a note reminding you that you can request full service at any time. BREAKFAST & SHARED SPACE One of the best parts of staying here is that breakfast is included every day, served from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on weekdays (until 10 a.m. on weekends, if I recall correctly). This alone adds major value to your stay. Many hotels in the same price range with comparable service and cleanliness don’t offer breakfast at all. While there are plenty of excellent local spots nearby, sometimes you just want something light and convenient first thing in the morning and plan on second breakfast later on. The breakfast area is well-organized with multiple stations that keep the lines moving, even during busy hours. There are staple items each day like toast, cereal, yogurt parfaits, coffee, and tea. The main hot offerings rotate daily. One day it might be eggs and bacon, another day Portuguese sausage and potatoes, or waffles with syrup. There are always staff running around cooking, cleaning, refilling, or chasing away birds. What I appreciated most was the consistent inclusion of miso soup, steamed rice, boiled eggs, tofu, and pickled vegetables every morning. Hot sauces and spices were also available. It was a pleasure to start the day with rice and eggs. This type of variety is especially thoughtful for guests who do not typically eat sweet or bread-heavy breakfasts, as well as for those from cultures where rice is a traditional part of the morning meal. The breakfast area is self-serve and self-clean-up. Tables can fill quickly, and sometimes a solo guest may occupy an entire table. If that happens, don’t hesitate to politely ask to share. Most people are happy to make space. The real issue comes when guests feed the birds or leave food unattended, which attracts them. While staff members do a great job reminding people not to feed wildlife and regularly shoo birds away, guests also have a role to play. If you see someone ignoring the posted signs, it’s okay to gently speak up. A good shared environment requires cooperation from everyone. I recommend asking for a to-go box or grabbing a couple of paper plates from downstairs. You can fill one with food and use the other as a cover to create a makeshift to-go box if there are no available seats at breakfast. While this setup makes it a bit tricky to carry both food and a drink, you can always head downstairs afterward, where staff are happy to prepare a coffee for you. Sometimes it gets super windy in the breakfast eating area, so bringing it to the lobby or into your room is better. ROOMS & FACILITIES We stayed on the top floor in a mountain-view room with a king bed and a clear view of Diamond Head (see photos). The view was fabulous and felt quite private--as private as it can be with other high-rise buildings nearby. Importantly, it did not overlook a pool, lawn, or seating area, which made it feel more peaceful. We enjoyed the sunrise each morning, and noise from the outside was minimal throughout our stay. The room itself is smaller than it appears in photos. If you are traveling with multiple large suitcases, be prepared for limited space. You may need to open your luggage on the bed or the floor. Water pressure was on the lower side, so if you have thick, curly hair like me, you will understand the struggles of low water pressure. However, it’s not so low that it takes an absurd amount of time to rinse out product. I always had access to warm water, which felt more than sufficient given the tropical climate. We did not use the fitness center during our stay, so I cannot speak to its quality. We did a substantial amount of walking every day, so a gym wasn’t necessary for us. However, we did make use of some of the hotel’s other shared spaces. There is a microwave available near the bar and restaurant area, along with paper plates, utensils, and napkins...very convenient if you have leftovers. I also used the public computers nearby to quickly look something up. Occasionally, during weekday mornings, guests who work remotely may use them as a second screen alongside their laptops, so they might be occupied briefly. The pool was under renovation during our stay. The hotel provided access to a neighboring property’s pool, but we didn’t use it. With the beach just a few blocks away, it didn’t feel necessary. The hotel’s location is ideal. It’s close to the beach, restaurants, and shops, but far enough from the busiest part of the strip to feel calm and restful at night. TRANSPORTATION & AMENITIES We did not use valet because we rented a car through a company that offered complimentary parking nearby. However, we noticed the valet area could get congested. If the valet lot fills up, traffic can back up in front of the hotel. If you're using a rideshare, ask your driver to pick you up or drop you off at the curb rather than pulling all the way in. It makes things smoother for everyone. If you plan to rent a car, consider choosing a company that provides parking access in a nearby garage. It saves stress during peak times when valet service might not be available. When you check in, make sure to ask about all included amenities. Some guests overlook these, but they add real value. For example, the daily $5 food and beverage credit doesn’t include tax or tip, but it’s a nice bonus. I often used it to grab a soda and a candy bar before heading to bed. The towel and beach chair rentals are excellent. The chairs provided are Tommy Bahama brand with backpack straps, storage pockets, and cup holders--far better than flimsy plastic ones. There are also water refill stations throughout the property, which is a great way to stay hydrated without constantly buying bottled water. If your flight leaves much later than your checkout time, the hotel also offers secure luggage storage. This was a huge help for us and allowed us to spend our last day exploring freely without dragging our bags around. They also offer a discount shuttle service to the airport, so make sure to ask about that. FINAL THOUGHTS This hotel is ideal for people who have full days planned, whether you're sightseeing around the island, lounging at the beach, or simply out and about. If you're expecting to be pampered all day or want a luxury experience with personal attendants and ultra-fast elevators at all times, you may want to look into one of the five-star hotels along the strip, though I’m not sure how much faster they can make elevators go during peak times or forcing people to eat faster at a breakfast buffet... But if you want a clean, friendly, well-located place with thoughtful amenities and responsive staff, this hotel is a great, sensible choice. I would consider staying here again next time.

Would stay again! Many amenities included such as free breakfast, refrigerator, beach chairs & towels, boogie boards, & safe. Queen beds (not doubles) are also available. Close proximity to beach, stores, & restaurants. Friendly staff and clean rooms made us feel comfortable.

Great base for a Hawaii Vacation Hyatt Place Waikiki is a great hotel to stay at for a Hawaii vacation....the location is walking distance to Waikiki Beach, Kapiolani Park, the shops and attractions on Kalakaua Ave (the main street in Waikiki) and a couple of food truck parks. I rented a car and it was very easy to navigate from the hotel to the freeway to explore other parts of Oahu. At times needed to wait for an elevator but never encountered a line at the breakfast buffet or at valet parking. All staff members were very friendly and welcoming.

Decent stay If you’re looking just for a place to sleep in (hoping no random loud noise wakes you up) with decent room and sub par facilities then its an okay place to be. One thing to take note, elevator takes forever that you’ll need patience! Location wise is on the tip of Waikiki strip and close to other dining options since hotel has very mediocre food option.

Poor quality Pool was closed, but this was never mentioned proactively and there was no discount or credit to reflect this. Extremely loud construction each morning on my rooms exterior wall (like drilling into the concrete of my exterior wall with a jackhammer), but this was not mentioned at check-in and nothing was provided. Patio bizarrely had no furniture but it was clearly on most other balconies. The room has a mini-split A/C which works but takes a while and struggled mid-day. Breakfast was super crowded and pretty bad quality. As with all Hyatt Places, the shower head has almost no pressure. Super disappointing property. The staff were nice though.
