Trending Down at Raystown Not our first stay at Raystown Fairfield. It is usually a pleasant experience, but it seems that it is slipping into mediocrity or worse. Because of Covid precautions there was maid service on request only, but the room rate was not reduced accordingly. No mask rules were in force, but, because of Covid, the popular waffle maker was unavailable due to the crowd it drew. The crowd had moved to the coffee service and toaster, Our room was showing signs of wear, especially the sofa on our suite which was broken down and impossible to sit on with comfort. The room was generally clean, but the elevator floor was very dirty around the edges. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful during our stay. however the goodwill hit rock bottom when we received a phone call during our trip home and were accused of stealing pillows from our room. The person who had checked us out said we would be charged for the theft or maybe we had packed them by mistake. We are not petty criminals or senile. When she decided to listen, we told her the pillows were stowed in the room's dresser for safe clean keeping. We still don't know if we will be charged for the "missing" pillows after contacting the hotel management serval times in writing. Apparently, the maid service and management need upgrading along with the aging facility.

Great property but NO enforcement of mask rules with guests We had a very uneven experience at this property. Perhaps in non-Covid 19 times it would be fine, but there were enough issues that on balance we won't return, at least for the foreseeable future. Pros: As a Titanium member, we were upgraded to a studio suite and received the view I requested toward the countryside (rather than the parking lot). The suite had a nice sitting area separated from the bedroom area with a couple small coffee tables we used to put our takeout food on. Also there was a frig, microwave, and coffeemaker (though they should install a light above that area; it was quite dim even with hall light on). Moreover, they do offer the usual Fairfield buffet breakfast, despite Covid-19 (but see cons below). And finally, the front desk clerk was wearing a mask, was nice and polite, and invited us to choose a free item from the Market shop as our welcome amenity (though he did not point out we could opt for points instead--wish I'd known). Cons: Despite signs on the front door saying guests should be wearing masks, the very first guest we encountered came out of the elevator without one. And the next morning, pretty much all of the guests in the lobby were not wearing masks. I dashed into the breakfast area with a mask on to grab milk and yogurt out of the small refrigerator case there at breakfast, but did not feel comfortable lingering any longer. Other issues: there were no staff members at the front desk when we arrived at around 8:30pm on a Friday night, and no one appeared despite our calling out "Is anyone here?" several times. Someone finally appeared from another area of the hotel, not from behind the front desk. So I suspect he was the only staff member on duty. Also our TV remote didn't work after we turned it off initially (you are "greeted" in the room on arrival by both TVs being on, with rather loud music and a message on the screen). Final con: room doors are not set up for mobile keys, so you have to check in and get a key at checkin. This is another serious downside during Covid.

Love the Fairfield Inn I recently started here to attend a funeral for a death in my family. I didn't have much time to plan, so after reading others' reviews, I decided to book at the Fairfield Inn. After my visit, I'm glad to say that I did! The staff was friendly (though they didn't know why I visited), the room was clean (upon arrival and each day), and the breakfast was great. During my stay, I also used the pool and found it to be well maintained. Great job everyone at running a top notch hotel. I can certainly say that, for any future trips to Huntingdon, I will stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites!

Nicest hotel in the area but staff not wearing masks Looking to get away for a few days and visit Raystown Lake my wife and I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. Our room was clean, breakfast was good with a variety of items and the hotel was just a 15 minute ride to Raystown Lake. We didn't like how staff were not wearing masks. Even after Gov. Wolf mandated everyone wears a mask the two days that followed until we checked out the staff consistently did not have masks on. This made my wife and I very uncomfortable because the staff at a hotel should set an example for the guests. We would stay at this hotel again because it is the nicest hotel in the area for lake visitors but would be hesitant due to COVID related concerns.
