WORST Hawaii hotel in the system Checked in to feces/blood on the pillow case in my kids room. You can see all the pictures I uploaded; flew thousands of miles to get there and when I said I wasn't paying for this room at all. They said "we won't charge you an early departure fee". How kind! I had to re-book my entire vacation (lost 2 days at this dump) and pay more; they could care less. My wife has auto-immune issues and came down with terrible rash from all the MOLD in the bathroom; e-mailed General Manager of hotel; NO REPLY. He doesn't care either. BOOK THE HILTON! We moved there and it was a dream compared to this hotel. It amazed me that Managers like this still exist and take paychecks for rooms like these. Embarrassing and unacceptable. They literally sent me the letter from the supervisor that day that said "rooms are unacceptable; taking out of order for several DAYS to fix all the issues". Yet, they only want to give me one of the 2 nights refunded after weeks of fighting. What a joke. You've been warned!

Trying hard to be luxury but seemed to miss the mark Let me start by saying that I don't actually know what I paid per night for this hotel since it was bundled in a travel agent's package but my friend tried to get a night here later and it was quite expensive. If I had to pay that rate, I would definitely say it wasn't worth it but I think we got a discount. Our room was very far away from the main part of the hotel, which meant it took a long time to walk to our room from the pool, restaurant, etc. You are given wristbands for your room key (think Disney bands). This often took 2-3 times before it unlocked the door. We ate at the restaurant a few times but the food was expensive and not really worth it. This hotel is not near anything so to go into town, you either need to have a rental car ($25 a day to self park) or take a taxi/Lyft/Uber (cost $20-40 one way to do this). It's about a 30 minute drive to town. This made me feel a little trapped on the hotel. Especially since almost all the "activities" they have listed were unavailable (I'm not sure if this was just because they were all booked or if they weren't being offered but I checked the first day we got there and yoga was pretty much the only thing that I could sign up for). I visited to spa but had to make an appointment my first day and they didn't have anything available for the next 5 days. I also couldn't reserve a cabana, etc. for my whole stay because it said unavailable on the site. Some of the information on their channel on the tv did not match what was actually happening right now (like Mantas on the Bay being open when it wasn't) so that was kind of annoying to me. The internet went out for at least 2 hours one night so that was a bit annoying, especially since I had to be the one to inform them. Also, they had a pool towel dispenser that wasn't always filled. There is a luau on grounds. We didn't end up going but we could hear it from our room, which was not great. Luckily it ended at 8 pm. I liked that there was an adult only pool so I didn't have to be splashed by kids. We did use the slide once. It was meh. The only thing that made this hotel worth it for me was the manta ray viewing. The restaurant (Mantas on the Bay) was still closed but you could go over there and watch the manta rays at night. If you do a manta ray snorkel or dive, this is one of the two sites they go. Also, the staff here was so accommodating and helpful. For example, we got a free box of chocolates because the computer was being slow during check in. Not sure if I would go back here though. I'd prefer a place closer to town.

Decent Hotel Its a resort hotel is very good for families right on the bay very scenic. Located close to restaurants and shopping area though need a car. Offers various activities as part of resort fee but we didn’t use any due to our own plans. Room comes with small refrigerator and coffee maker. We used the pool which has a slide. Ate breakfast at the cafe/restaurant with limited choices though. But whatever we ate it was good. They offer concierge services but didn’t use them. Hotel also has a convenience store inside which was convenient. All in all its a good resort for families.

Good for photos but prices were too high We booked 2 partial clean view rooms in July for the family and felt the over $3500 for less than a week price tag was too high for that experience. The drive to the main restaurant and tourist district was also longer than we liked. The resort is great to take pictures.

Beautiful resort right on the water Our family stayed here for 2 nights in June. We didn't choose the resort as our destination, but rather a place to stay when visiting Volcanoes National Park. The resort looked very nice online and was beautiful in person. We stayed in a large corner suite with 2 lanais that had stunning views. Everyone at the resort was very friendly. We did not have a chance to enjoy the pool areas, but they looked amazing as well. Our days began with a cup of Kona coffee while watching the dolphins and manta rays. Perfection!
