Horrible!! Where to begin…I booked through Hotels.com & got a good deal ($150). Turns out - bait & switch! - to get a room like the one I had BOOKED I had to pay an additional $238 and still I did not get what I had booked as advertised. The room was HORRIBLE! Decrepit, old furniture, windows didn’t work, shades didn’t work, no fireplace as advertised, no dining table as advertised, kitchen minuscule & funky. Perhaps the worst part is the lack of ADA compliance: no handrails on the stairs to enter the room. I am reporting to ADA. My partner is handicapped & almost fell twice. The walls are paper thin so get ready to listen to your neighbors. There is a fire pit in the center of the yard where loud partiers went late into the night. The guy at the front desk was rude, dismissive & responded to complaints with, “that’s your problem!” He spoke mockingly in a foreign language to another guy behind the desk & they looked at us & laughed. Clearly they have no respect for their guests - maybe just women? We booked 3 nights but on the third night we had to move as this “special “ room they gave us was booked. They moved us into a tiny room w/half closet & barely room to walk around the beds. Mind you, I had called the week before arrival & confirmed amenities as booked. The desk guy said he didn’t know anything about that. Hotels.com was unable to do ANYTHING. They said they called the hotel & couldn’t get any refund b/c we had actually stayed there, that we should have left asap when things went bad. We had driven 5 hours to get there, arrived late in day…where were we supposed to go? Never again!!

I saved money by booking directly through the hotel's own website. Price, Cleanliness, and not being woken up all night by hot rods, jets or motorcycles was important. I booked the room through their site directly and got the room for 202usd after all fees and taxes. The room was clean and we have a 2yr-old so we had a double queen room. The mini-fridge was very quiet. The shower was weak. Low-flow head and water pressure sucked, but it was clean and just a bit outdated. We did sleep well. The price difference between a safe place and a run down dirty place was literally 30usd per night difference once you get away from the fake fees for the online travel sites (booking sites). They do charge for pets, but the point is we saved $40 per night by dealing with the hotel directly and not through an online search website.

Carbon monoxide alarm at 4am jolted us awake and away earlier than planned It's unfair to give the property 1-star because I should have done a bit more research; I was swayed by the overwhelmingly positive reviews. We wanted to stay near Asilomar for 2 nights to relax, check tidepools with our child, and drive to Big Sur. This property seemed inviting. Was a bit nonplussed with the room and the bathroom felt a bit rustic (some holes in the walls that had not been patched; small shower with a curtain that felt a bit dorm-like). You want the cool sea breeze but cars park right outside the room so you hear other guests coming and going. Our carbon monoxide alarm jolted us awake at 4am and we were unable to go back to sleep worrying our child or we might die. We complained to the inn manager though he did not express any compassion or remorse; we had the Fire Dept. check the alarm and they determined it was faulty and needed to be replaced. Our options were to do nothing or waste the morning to move to a different equivalent room. We were able to cancel our 2nd night and check out early; had the manager not been so steadfast and rude we might have tried to stick it out. Again this is partly on me; had I planned a bit better I may have found a better property and never would have encountered this, so I can't give 1 star.

Rooms not cleaned The overall location and room were good. The daily housekeeping was nonexistent the second day in our room. It’s still not made clean spoke to the manager of the Fran who stated that he was sorry we had not requested the room to be clean. He would see if he could get to it the next day, he was short staffed. They did clean up the next day and they missed a day then they cleaned it then they missed four days in a row complaint about not cleaning the room received a response that we didn’t have time sorry and as I complain, his statement was well if you don’t like it don’t stay here
