Beautiful hotel; a real highlight of our trip We stayed two nights, as a family of five (in two rooms). The hotel is in a lovely setting, right on the lake, with the volcano in the distance. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped, and the staff is very friendly (especially the bartender!). It was great to hang out in the pool with the kids, and order food there. The fare and service in the main restaurant were both very good, as well – and the patio is gorgeous, overlooking the lake.
A boat can take you to other towns across the lake, and the Reserva Natural Atitlán zipline adventure (a must!) is a 10-minute walk away. Small taxis are available if you'd like to travel into town down the hill (for laundry, souvenir shopping, etc).
One more thing to note is that I accidentally left a few items in a room safe when we left (my fault!), and we had to call to arrange for the items to be packaged for delivery in another city on our itinerary. The staff went above & beyond in their help with this!

Great hotel in a fabulous location The hotel was fabulous. Private location good food and simple room. Pool and jacuzzi were fantastic overlooking lake Atitlan.
I enjoyed the private locationa and private dock. Getting I to town by tuk tuk was also super easy.
Would highly recommend

Shady business practices, warning. Don't stay here BEWARE shady business practices and the hardest beds! Our rate was quoted in USD but they make you pay in quetzals. The current exchange rate is $1 USD to 7.75 Quetzals but they round up to 8 so your charges end up being much higher than you expect. We spoke to the front desk and asked to speak with the manager. The front desk staff called them and spoke for 10 minutes but when we wanted to speak with them they were "in a meeting". As an executive assistant, I know this trick used to dismiss or postpone a person from speaking to my boss.
Adding insult to injury we paid over $350 a night for this hotel and the bed is beyond firm. To help with this we asked for more pillows but this large hotel said they didn't have a single extra pillow.
I've not once left a bad review when traveling but I'm so upset over the way things are handled at this hotel. It felt fraudulent and we don't think we will stay here again tonight as we don't feel safe staying somewhere with business practices such as these

Volcanoes to look at booed as part of tour and it didn’t disappoint. loverly grounds and gardens.
after travelling for several hours on a a mini coach jumping into the pools was lovely - followed by sitting in hot-tub infinity pool, drinking cocktails - the were priced higher than in the north of Guatemala, but reasonable compared with London prices.
food was good and service staff friendly enough
volcano views a bonus

Come for the lake, stay for the gardens This hotel is right on the lake, and has really lovely gardens. We opened our patio door upon arrival to see a Hummingbird flitting about!
It's a big hotel by Guatemalan standards, so it's definitely not quiet, if it isn't the big groups, or the helicopter landing on a regular basis, it's noise from establishments down the coast.
It wasn't a problem, we still relaxed and watched the birds, or the lake.
The restaurant had a relatively small menu so I'd definitely recommend going into town if your staying longer than a night or two.
The pool and (very large) jacuzzi are lovely.
We're glad we stayed there, but also happy it wasn't a long stay.
