Not great if you have mobility issues! The front of house experience is good, as were the dining and bar staff, but the 2nd floor 'accessible room' was dirty, poorly maintained, and not worthy of even 1 star rating: the curled up bathroom floor tiles were a trip hazard and needed to be covered with towels for the duration of our stay. Just for the record, no, another 'accessible room' was not available even though I had emailed well ahead to request accessibility!

Overpriced in every respect My first impression as I walked from the car park past the spa was that of an Ibiza pool party. What is meant to be a tranquil infinity spa pool was crowded with adults most of whom had wine glasses in hand. I was pleased I hadn’t booked myself in to use the overpriced spa facilities at this point. At reception I asked if my twin room could be changed to a double bed as my daughter had not been able to come with me. I was told that the hotel was full with no other rooms available. An hour later I saw the same receptionist coming out of a room with a couple and telling them that if they didn’t like the next room he was about to show them then there was another one empty. I didn’t bother going back to see if I could change as I had already unpacked. The reception area, bar and restaurant were all nicely decorated however in the corridors and stairs leading to rooms at the back of the hotel the carpets were threadbare and the banisters sticky. I had paid for an upgraded recently refurbished room but they must have forgotten to do the bathroom as the sink was all cracked and the bath safety handles loose with the enamel coming off under the taps. My friends and I ate in the restaurant and the food was okay but I wouldn’t be recommending it as anywhere to go for a special occasion. At the end of the meal we were interrupted by a scruffily dressed man who wanted to show us some magic tricks. We humoured him for about 10 mins then suggested politely that he finished his act and moved on. If this gentleman was employed by the hotel then they would do well to ask him to dress a little better for appearances and if he wasn’t then the staff need to pay attention as to who is wondering around the place. Room amenities were ok with plenty of tea/coffee/milk and biscuits but no bottled water as you would expect of a hotel charging these prices. Toiletries amounted to just one bottle of multi purpose soap. Drinks are overpriced - as an example almost £30 for a pint of Guinness and a large glass of wine. Staff were polite and smartly dressed.

Spa break Had a lovely stay, bed was very comfortable, decor is interesting, questionable in parts but still had everything we needed for one night. Electricity didn’t work but a lovely man came to fix it for us. Spa was excellent, the outdoor pool is lovely and warm and the views were stunning.

Beautiful spa but a little shortsighted We visited the spa on an early 7-9am slot and it was a lovely way to start the day. The pools were gorgeous and very clean and it was not crowded. This was a great special offer for £20 which also included a towel and a drink. The only downside was the staff refusing to allow us to buy a ‘proper’ coffee as they’d have to turn the machine on, nor were there any breakfast snacks on offer to buy which seemed very shortsighted as we were all keen to spend money! We tried the main hotel bar and were told we’d have to purchase the full guest breakfast at £17 in order to get just a coffee. Would have thought providing cakes/croissants/proper coffee etc for spa guests would be great additional income for the Hotel. I would still go back however as the setting is beautiful.

Its a rip off This hotel is rated four hotel, but in no way is it a four-star hotel. We arrived at reception to a large queue. The reception desk has three PCs; however, one guy on duty, who tells me he does not know much about their system. Thus is true, it took one hour to get booked in, the booking was for two nights, however, this guy says, no you have cancelled one night, despite giving him a copy of my email from them confirming the booking. On day two we arrived back late in the afternoon, 17.00, the room had not been cleaned, dirty towels, bin unemptied, bed unmade. I phoned reception, and up comes someone to look, no explanation was offered, she returned twenty minutes later with clean towels, and left us with a dirty room, if this is your standard then book this sorry run down hotel needing lots of work done. The breafast room was full of uncleared tables, reception had asked for a time that we would come down for breakfast, I dont know why, as it was a disaster. On checking out, I put the key card in the box, the reception person asked, what room and that was that, no feedback asked for, no have a safe journey home. Find a one star hotel, save money and get better service and standards.
