Hidden charge of $279.99 for an extra person, refusing refund... Stayed at the La Mariposa Aug 8-12th with family. The hotel is incredible and the wait staff was amazing. However, the front desk staff was not great. They charged me $279.99 for an extra person (my daughter). I believe this was an unreasonable charge, and I have requested a refund, but they are refusing to reverse the charge. I already paid $1500 worth (used points) for 4 nights. Another $279.99 is completely unreasonable for a 10 year old. We all stayed in one room. I have tried everything to get a refund and the hotel has simply refused. They are being unprofessional and a hotel manager doesn't seem to exist. I would rather stay somewhere where I don't receive a hidden charge in Costa Rica.

Amazing Hotel Experience and Great Staff My family and I just got back from a trip to Costa Rica and could not be more pleased with the facility and staff at Hotel La Mariposa. We stayed in a larger, resort style hotel for the first half of our trip but La Mariposa was far and away such a better experience. Tucked in the hills of Manuel Antonio, the hotel has an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean. The pool, pool bar and dining areas all look out over this amazing scenery. We opted for a corner sunset room (room 11), which featured two walls almost entirely of glass and had a balcony. Stunning. The room was comfortable and quite large enough for our family of four. The bathroom was modern and clean. Over the 4 days we stayed at the hotel, we got to know the staff and I can't say enough nice things about them all. Gustavo, Diego, Alan, Kendall, Brandon, Dianny - they all seemed to get along with one another so well and they made us feel at home. (Gustavo played some great music by the pool). We saw Scarlet Macaws, Capuchin Monkeys, Toucans, Iguanas all around the hotel.

Wonderful Hotel in the heart of Manuel Antonio with spectacular views An oasis in the middle of Manuel Antonio. The views from this Hotel and most of it’s rooms is nothing short of spectacular. Sitting at on if the highest points it offers unobstructed views of the entire pacific coast and the national park. The rooms are clean and well equipped. Constant maintenance and modernization ensure a high quality. The nature and amazing wildlife surround the guests at all times. The name is well chosen, as there are 1000s of butterflies. A very nice restaurant and pool bar round up a perfect stay. The service is very friendly and we felt like “family”. Our very special thanks go out to Gustavo at the pool. Thank you so much for making our time particularly enjoyable. You are the best!!

Best hotel in all Manuel Antonio! Trust me!! Easily the best hotel in all of Manuel Antonio!This hotel by far had the best views of sunrise and sunset. The property felt like you were nestled right in the middle of the rainforest. We saw so many monkeys just sitting at the pool. There were even 2 sloths right outside our room. The hotel is also in walking distance to many shops and restaurants so there really is no need for a car. The receptionist connected us with tours and even offered bus rides right to the beach and the national park (shout out to Luis)! They had the best bartender in town (Kendall). The Le Papillon restaurant at the hotel had the most delicious lunch and dinner with the best view in town! The waiters went above and beyond for us! Thank you to John B., Brandon & Christopher. We also loved Gustavo at the pool bar. Most definitely will be returning. There is no other place we would stay in Manuel Antonio.

Pay attention to the check The hotel is nice with a very beautiful view. We stayed in a corner view room in the fifth floor: very nice. The tried to charge me about 41000 colones for drinks we never ordered. They were without receipt so I had back my money. They don't accept one hour of late check out. They did't even say goodbye only because I didn't pay the 41000 colones. So, pay attention to the final check.
