MOLD and NO REPONSE FROM MANAGEMENT MOLD; NON-RESPONSIVE MGMT: We booked the Ponce de Leon hotel recently (June 8th 2024). We were attending a concert at Jannus Live and the hotel is very conveniently located for this venue. We checked in and immediately noticed a strong smell of MOLD in our room. We let the staff at front desk know but the hotel was completely sold out so they were not able to switch rooms for us. We hurried to the concert (as we were late). After the concert, we returned to the hotel and tried to stay but it was impossible for us to sleep there as I suffer badly with asthma and the mold would have made me sick. We decided to check out and drive home. We went to the front desk, re-explained the situation with the room and requested a refund for the night. The staff completely understood our situation and said that they would let the manager know, as they had no authority to give us a refund. Since then, I have tried to contact the manager at the hotel. I have left several messages and have never had my calls returned. Expedia’s customer service was also unsuccessful in reaching anyone at the hotel. We were never refunded. We understand that this is an older hotel and that they were sold out but we feel that they should have at least returned our calls and refunded us for the night based on their inability to provide a safe and acceptable room. I don’t usually write bad reviews but this experience warranted my sharing the experience to warn others who are considering booking this hotel. Ty

Improvements needed No hot water, luke warm at best. Warm water only after allowing shower/faucet to run for at least 3 minutes. Sheets did not fit bed, the fitted sheet was not as deep as the mattress. AC units are located in windows as this is an older building. Not very well sealed, could see day light around unit, maybe some caulk or weather stripping could fix. Room had a musty smell. GREAT Location! Nice local bar next door. They did allow check in at 2 as our rooms were ready

Pleasant stay - good value I had some reservations about my scheduled stay as other reviews seemed to run either hot or very cold. I was pleasantly surprised. Room was very clean and right sized for a couple for a weekend. Some other reviews were critical of the bathroom size - yes they are small, but what do you expect for a 1920s era hotel. Everything worked! Compared very favorably to most of the European hotels where I have stayed. Only criticism -- the sheets were a bit threadbare. Very centrally located, friendly staff and good value. Would definitely stay there again.

Like a genteel Hollywood dame who's seen better days, but retains her elegance. I really loved this hotel, but realise it's not for everyone. Really liked the airy layout of the room, the decor, the parquet floors and the comfy clean bed. I also found the bathtub rather fabulous. The location is excellent with sea views partially blocked by the yacht club and wonderful restaurants on its doorstep. Easy walk to the Dali museum and the pier. Staff friendly and welcoming. However some of the common areas ( the corridors, the elevator) sorely need updating and I was sad that they don't have much of a breakfast service. All in all though, I probably wouldn't be able to afford it if it had been as it was in it's heyday!
