Q&A with Lee Pomerantz, Co-Owner

Are there any dishes on the menu you consider to be a hidden gem?not necessarily the most popular, but surprisingly delicious?

Our custom-blended teas are amazing, and our customers consistently tell us our drinks are far better than what the big chain stores offer.

In your own words, how would you describe your menu?

We carry the largest collection of custom-blended loose-leaf teas (more than 150 varieties) in Indiana, along with an amazing selection of specialty coffees from around the world (currently 65 types and growing). Our extensive hot and cold drink menu features everything you'd expect in a coffee shop and more. We now feature the Dr. Smoothie line of 100 percent all-natural, organic smoothies. Our bakery case features yummy treats from local bakers to complement your favorite beverage.

A trip to Spice Merchants is like a wake up call to your senses. The rich scent of spice blends that combine lavender and celery seeds or cocoa nibs and sea salt waft through the air, making the entire store fragrant and guests mysteriously hungry. Devoted to sharing flavors from all over the world, Spice Merchants also hosts high tea services featuring selections from more than 100 loose leaf teas, and the staff is always busy thinking up and sharing recipes that make good use of their unique spice blends.

In a petite 56-seat eatery, the chefs at Café St. Tropez cull fresh ingredients to craft the classic French sandwiches, pastries, and eats that populate the menu. Early risers can replace lingering memories of wailing alarm clocks with the sensations of a Very Berry crepe, a warm amalgamation of seasonal berries and mascarpone sprinkled with vanilla-infused sugar. In the St. Tropez caprese, tomatoes and avocado huddle next to fresh mozzarella as sourdough or wheat toast or a croissant soaks up garlic-infused olive oil like a teddy bear soaks up the sleep-mumbled poetry of children.
