About A Chat with Artful Kids Expressive Art Classes
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Few people teach kids' art quite the way Gloria Kreitzberg does—using humor and playfulness that kids can relate to. Her students gain confidence over time and learn to paint like no one's watching. She teaches them to express themselves through their art, not just follow instructions.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
Kids are supplied with all the art materials they need. Some of our paint is non-washable, so please make sure they wear a smock, oversize shirt, or a painting outfit that they can wear each week to class—clothes that you will not mind if they get paint on (that will not come out in the wash).
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I am a professional illustrator, graphic designer, and marketing consultant, but I get the biggest reward from seeing kids who think they have no artistic skills hold up their painting at the end of class with the biggest smiles on their faces. My goal is to make them feel good about themselves.
What do you love most about your job?
The kids. All of them. The shy ones, the chit-chatty ones, the kids who have trouble focusing, the ones who take three times longer than anyone else to finish their artwork, and the ones who need encouragement because they think they cannot draw well. I love it when they get it that no art is bad.
