Berkshire East Mountain Resort
Skiers have been zipping down the trails at Berkshire East Mountain Resort for more than half of a century. In recent years, though, Berkshire has transformed from just a ski resort into a four-season destination. Today, the mountain compliments its 42 ski trails with numerous other outdoors activities, including:
Whitewater Rafting: Rafts bound down the Deerfield River, which snakes through the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains along the historic Mohawk Trail. Known for its excellent trout fishing, the river welcomes rafting experts and first-time families alike.
Zip Line Canopy Tours: Hailed by USA Today as one of the top zip-line operations in the U.S., the resort's setup boasts nearly 4.5 miles of zip lines. Two of the lines are among the longest in the country, checking in at about a half-mile in length.
Thunderbolt Mountain Coaster: One of North America's longest mountain coasters, Thunderbolt totes riders up 1,580 feet through the forest. Its carts then disengage, allowing gravity to take over during a 3,870-foot descent packed with swooping turns, banked corners, and rolling drops.
