Horsemanship is the mastery of riding and grooming, unlike Manhorseship, which is just a good name for a centaur's yacht. Take the reins with this Groupon.
Choose Between Two Options
- $49 for two private horseback-riding lessons
(a $110 value)
Seasoned instructors teach students of every experience level to ride in their choice of hunter-jumper and western-pleasure disciplines, with an emphasis on riding and training for the show ring. Numerous lesson horses are available.
- $175 for one weeklong children’s summer camp (a $350 value)
Summer camps, designed for kids 5–14, are held June 3–7, June 10–14, and July 15–19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On the first day, teachers familiarize campers with the facility and safety guidelines. Over the following four days, they teach kids how to care for horses and how to ride expertly and safely. That’s in addition to daily arts and crafts, demonstrations by vets and blacksmiths, and other activities. Campers should bring their own lunch and water, and wear riding pants or jeans, T-shirts, and boots. Helmets will be provided.
Briarstone Riding Academy
Briarstone Riding Academy’s Jena Larsen went “horse crazy,” as she puts it, around age 10—when she took her first horseback-riding lesson. She quickly developed her riding skill, competing in shows and eventually even training other riders. Now at Briarstone, which she opened nearly a decade ago, she brings that expertise to horseback-riding lessons, focusing not only on flawless showmanship, but also responsible horsemanship, sportsmanship, and fun.
