Denver Gourmet Tours leads entertaining and informative trips deep into the heart of Denver’s distinct culinary scenes. Each tour perambulates for about three hours and covers 1–2 miles as guides convey intimate groups to four to six to local under-the-radar restaurants and hidden gems. During the Best Street Food tour, groups break free from indoor restaurants' lap-napkin shackles to sample pizzas cooked in an imported Italian pizza oven and gourmet burgers from a solar-powered truck. On the Gourmet Taste tour, minds absorb the intricate processes behind craft brews, crêpes, and wood-fired pizzas, and palates contemplate aged sea salts and the myriad scents, flavors, and family pedigrees of fine wines.
Along with liberal samples at every destination, each Denver Gourmet tour includes meet and greets with most of the local artisans as well as bottled water, shopping bags, and pen and paper for scrawling chefs' secret techniques for boiling water. Those with allergies or specific diets can voice their concerns ahead of time so guides can plan tours to accommodate all tastes.
Denver Gourmet Tours
On a trip to Britain, Chelly Vitry was determined to stop at an authentic apple press. She was eager to sample Scrumpy—a British version of hard cider—and see how it was made. Despite days of searching, however, she couldn’t find a press that would allow her visit. With Denver Gourmet Tours, Chelly guides small groups on the same kind of hands-on culinary experience she sought in Britain. During her excursions—which change seasonally—Chelly and her guests spend three hours strolling Denver’s streets, meeting food specialists, and trying the food at four to six culinary hot spots such as food trucks, sweet shops, and craft breweries.
Along with her main tours, Chelly customizes culinary trips, designs gastronomic team-building activities, and hosts events such as progressive dinners and tasting parties. She also fills her guests with newfound culinary skills during hands-on cooking classes, where they learn to craft cupcakes, bake bread, or grow pizzas in their garden.
