Di Cillo Tavern
Di Cillo Tavern opened in 1933 back when it was one of the only buildings around. "There was nothing but fields from the bar past SOM Center [Road]," Pete DiCillo told The Sun Messenger back in 1995. "No one could ever imagine the growth and business that was to come back then. It's been amazing."
Pete represents the third generation of his family to man the tavern, a responsibility he now shares with his daughter, Annette. Since the beginning they've been known for their Friday fish fry, still found on the menu alongside other classics such as patty melts and cheese ravioli. The pasta dishes are topped with homemade sauce, which guests can also order to-go by the pint or quart but not the mouthful. All of these longstanding customer favorites are a testament to the pride the DiCillos show in their tavern's history. "It's been in the family forever," Pete said. "And I want to keep it that way."
