$75 to attend Top Dog – A NY Hot Dog Competition hosted by Andrew Zimmern, part of LOCAL presented by Delta Air Lines, on Saturday, October 17, 4 p.m.–6 p.m. ($110.50 value)
Eat: The New York City hot dog, though a classic, has been unfairly maligned in recent years. To restore the reputation of this street-cart icon, the NYCWFF has assembled a crack team of local hot-dog purveyors to test its limits. Attendees get to sample many takes on this culinary favorite, from the traditional to the gourmet to the contemporary. The event is part of LOCAL presented by Delta Air Lines, which celebrates New York venues and cuisine.
Drink: Sip beer, wine, and cocktails from the Southern Wine & Spirits Portfolio.
Mingle: Andrew Zimmern, the chef, writer, and Bizarre Foods host, leads the crowd in trying the treats. In between bites of hot dogs, relax at the industrial yet comfortable Biergarten at The Standard hotel alongside the High Line.
Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by FOOD & WINE
At Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by FOOD & WINE's events, culinary experts share some of their favorite things to eat and sip as part of their mission to "Eat. Drink. End Hunger." Many of NYCWFF's featured personalities are acclaimed chefs with beloved television shows: attendees may rub elbows with the likes of Chopped host Ted Allen or Mario Batali—owner of 27 restaurants, author of 10 cookbooks, and cohost of The Chew.
At the festival's events, guests can also broaden their palates through a range of experiences, including tastings, cocktail parties, and gourmet food fights between celebrity chefs and up-and-coming culinary starlets. It's for a good cause, too: 100% of the NYCWFF's net proceeds go directly to Food Bank For New York City and the No Kid Hungry® campaign.
