The Dragon Festival

For more than 100 years, the citizens of Melbourneshire have lived in fear of the mighty dragon Gedeon, who fills the skies with fire every night. Many knights have dared to face the beast, and just as many have ended up as so much canned meat for Gedeon's lunches. Every year on the anniversary of the dragon's hatching, the Melbourneshirefolk hold a grand festival—during which all who prove worthy are welcome to test their mettle against the birthday boy.

A combination of a Renaissance Fair, Celtic sporting event, and live-action fantasy novel, the Dragon Festival is a family-friendly, all-ages event. Those who demur from the feats of strength can share beer and wine and take in the banquet of sights, including fire-breathers, stilt-walkers, jugglers, magicians, and real-life jousting. After night falls, a silver screen flickers with some of the most popular dragons on cinema history. Proceeds from the festival benefit We Rock for Autism.
