The Event

Loot's industrial space transforms into an intimate Mexican bistro for one night only, welcoming diners for an evening of cuisine from globe-trotting Mexican Chef Danny Espinoza. His travels have inspired him to create dishes that are both elegant and approachable, with influences picked up from some of the globe's finest kitchens and most humble markets. A veteran of Chicago's Mexique, France's Bistro de Saveurs, and The Ausable Club of New York, Espinoza's five-course menu reflects these life experiences, and above all, his passion for delicious food.

The Menu

Espinoza's distinct take on Mexican cuisine doesn't skimp on the surprises: to start, beets and pepitas add color and crunch to the Ensalada de Verdolagas, before the flavors of the Tiradito de Cobia become enhanced by pickled grape and lemon curd. Next, the thin, crispy masa flatbread makes up the base of the Tlayuda, impossibly supporting the weight of chicken carnitas, mushroom escabeche, and mole. A pickled pork tenderloin then arrives to the table, its sweetness heightened by charred pineapple. Like a successful candy-store heist, the evening ends on a sweet note—apple mousse and cider cajeta gelée come together for the chef's Deep In Cider, paired with tangerine greens and a cinnamon churro.
