What You’ll Do
Salt is one of the most powerful tools at a chef’s disposal—capable of enhancing subtle notes or completely changing the flavor of a dish. During this class, licensed saltologist and Level 9 spice master Frankie Scanlon shows you how different types of sea salt can elevate finger food to delicious gourmet appetizers. Under his guidance, you’ll make a handful of healthy snacks and then enjoy them with the rest of the class.
Frankie Scanlon shows you how to make black truffle bruschetta, ancho chile chip dip, ceasar salad wraps, and a green tea or red cayenne sea salt fruit plate. All supplies and necessary ingredients are provided.
The group adds different types of artisan sea salt to complement the flavors of each dish.

It all began when Frankie and his partner started crafting gourmet spice blends and sea salts for their own use, then for friends and family, then finally for public sale at the Venice Beach Farmers Market.
