What You’ll Do

A bookstore isn’t usually mistaken for a music venue. During these special performances, however, Couth Buzzard Books transforms into an intimate jazz club to host the smooth performers of the Kenny Mandell Quartet. Mandell and his band will share standards from the Great American Songbook by the likes of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and Duke Ellington over the course of the two-hour set.

  • Jazz-Quartet Performance
Saxophonist and flautist Kenneth Mandell leads a group that also features guitar, bass, and drums.

  • Snacks and Drinks Available
Couth Buzzard Bookstore’s cafe serves up wine, beer, and coffee, along with flatbread pizzas and baked goods.

Kenneth Mandell Kenneth Mandell
Jazz Musician and Instructor

Kenneth Mandell has developed a broad musical palate in more than 30 years as a musician. He has mastered both the saxophone and the flute, and can switch from playing jazzy updates of American standards to blues numbers with ease. His talents have been heard at a number of notable venues and gigs around the Pacific Northwest—the Bumbershoot arts festival, the Northwest Folklife festival, and Jazz Alley, to name a few. When he’s not on stage, Kenneth teaches the next generation of performers during private lessons and workshops on jazz history.
