Documentary Photographer, Filmmaker

Few have as personal an aesthetic inspiration as Van Nguyen-Stone, whose work is guided by the name “Jomi Jomi” that was given to her from the Lukumi tradition and signifies both the spiritual world and the material one. Infused with this outlook and her father’s passion for family portraiture, Van went on to the niche field of photographing local ska and punk bunds before earning a master’s in film production. For more than decade since then, Van has immersed herself in independent filmmaking and photography, and her work encompasses everything from dance documentaries to food videos for About.com.
