Building a miniature ship inside a bottle is impressive, but not as impressive as forging a giant glass shell around the outside of an aircraft carrier. One-up ordinary hobbyists with today’s Groupon to Leaderglass. Choose between the following options:

  • For $75, you get a two-hour glass-blowing class for one (a $150 value).
  • For $137, you get a two-hour glass-blowing class for two (a $275 value).<p>

Classes can be reserved during studio hours, Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., when available.

Leaderglass owner Alex Leader, who has been profiled in the Sonoma Valley Sun, mines his 18 years of experience manipulating glass when teaching hands-on classes at his studio. Leader’s introductory class—known as A Glass Experience—acts as a survey of the glass-blowing universe, allowing students to observe and try different techniques over the course of two hours. Newly christened glass gurus walk away with a simple but solid piece, such as an ornamental flower, paperweight, or life-size replica of the Louvre Pyramid. After class, pupils can saunter around Leader’s showroom, where he displays a colorful and unique collection of handmade items, including tumblers, wine glasses, and vases.

Alex Leader’s namesake glass-blowing outfit aims to equip curious artists with the tools and guidance to craft their own handmade glass art pieces. Alex relies on thousand-year-old techniques and skills learned during his two decades of experience to assist students as they create their own blown vases, ornaments, and bowls. Prior to starting on a masterpiece, students can glean inspiration inside the master craftsman’s showroom, where he displays his own collection of artisanal bowls and lighting fixtures.

Customer Reviews

This was an amazing experience. We used this groupon for our wedding anniversary. We got a 2 hour hands on lesson on glass sculpting and blowing, with only 2 other adults. I would love to do this again, and would highly recommend it.
