A Chat with Midwest Taekwondo Academy
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We have small classes and no contracts, ever. We truly enjoy teaching Taekwondo. This is not our full-time job, and we are not in it for the money. We do it for the sheer enjoyment, and our students all really enjoy it. We have a wonderful environment and encourage families to train together.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
Every single person that walks onto a mat for the first time should remember that every one else on the mat had a first day also. We do not judge. We all work together and help each other. We are there to learn and have fun.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
My fiance and I bought a house in Westfield in 2012. We both had been doing Taekwondo on and off for over 20 years. It was an easy choice for us to decide to open our own school after we moved. We decided to do it for the fun of it, not the money (we all know there’s no money in martial arts schools).
What do you love most about your job?
I love everything about Taekwondo. My favorite part of my job is watching our students grow and learn and enjoy Taekwondo as much as I have over the years!
