Platea Latin Eatery and Cantina is the brainchild of Rick Garcia, who was born to immigrant parents from Mexico and so was exposed to plenty of traditional Mexican and Latin-American fare. That influence is on display at Platea, where you can start off with a small plate such as chicarrones or chips and one of eight types of salsa, try any of 11 varieties of taco or traditional dishes such as flautas or arepas, and finish with flan or savory churros. Wash your food down with something from the bar, where mixmaster Sergio Garcia (no relation to Rick) offers a creative range of tequila and mezcal cocktails, as well as potent potables from Cuba, Pera, Brazil, and Colombia.
