SoCap Crossfit

Adam Blevins was channel-surfing one day when he came across the 2011 CrossFit games on TV. Blevins had participated in many sports growing up—he even took weight-lifting classes in college—but CrossFit was like nothing he'd seen before. A week later, he completed his first CrossFit foundations workout and was hooked. It wasn't easy—he admits it was a month before he was able to a 45-lb. bar over his head—but the changes CrossFit brought to his life were hard to ignore: Adam had more energy, a spring in his step, and felt completely challenged and motivated each day.

Adam was so inspired by the changes CrossFit brought to his life, he eventually opened his own gym, SoCap CrossFit, in order to introduce others to the diverse workout and its many benefits. CrossFit employs constantly varied functional movements that incorporate Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, and core-conditioning exercises, all performed at high intensity. The workouts change each day, but might include kettlebell swings, rope climbing, box jumps, tire flipping, and tractor pulls, and all exercises are easily scalable to suit exercisers of all ages and abilities.
