Shunan Teng, the owner of Tea Drunk, isn't afraid to travel to the far corners of the Earth in search of the world's best teas. According to one of her blog posts, she has had to "climb mountains, sleep in huts, ride motorcycles along the edges of cliffs, and bushwhack for hours to get you the best teas possible."
She admits to being obsessed with terroir, which is why she focuses on carrying true-origin teas. These are not blended, flavored, or enchanted, but rather single-origin teas whose harvest locations are clearly noted on Tea Drunk's huge menu. Teas are available by the pao (a serving that yields up to 10 steeps) or the ounce. Anyone interested in learning more can enroll in a class at the tea house, which is so popular it has been profiled in The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.
