The fourth annual Russian River Mud Run takes over Shone Farm with a gauntlet of new and favorite sloppy obstacles on Saturday, October 11. Parking opens at 6 a.m., and the first wave launches at 8 a.m. A post-race festival starts at 11 a.m., with an awards ceremony at noon. See the FAQ to plan for race day.
Russian River Mud Run
The first challenge: a mud wall. Next comes a mud crawl, later followed by mud rollers, a mud tube, a mud canal, a mud slide, mud river, mud pit, and The Stump, a fallen tree that runners tiptoe across before landing in, yes, mud.
It doesn’t get any less messy from there. The Russian River Mud Run poses runners with 16 obstacles (18 for 10K competitors), most covered in, filled with, surrounded by, or evoking the very soul of mud. Afterward, racers can choose to shower off or wear their battle filth proudly as they dig into a pancake feast. A post-race festival, complete with apple press and pumpkin patch, rewards runners and spectators for braving the fall air, while a donation bin allows them to leave their muddy shoes behind, so they can be washed and sent to a person or swamp-dwelling centipede in need.
