The museum is very small and could use some upgrades. Very informative however there is some information that’s incorrect such as the way my sorority is listed being Delta Sigmas and it’s Delta Sigma Theta. Also the guide indicated one of the fraternities being founded at Howard and that’s incorrect. Outside of that it’s nice to learn about the history of African Americans that’s not taught in school. Definitely recommended for others to visit.

The HBCU Museum is a great idea. As a HBCU graduate, I think I took it for granted how much there is to tell about HBCUs. However, listening to our guide, it made me realize how necessary telling our stories really is. It is a small, storefront space. Do not take more than 2 people with you. I think as the guides increase their knowledge of HBCUs, this will be a better experience.

Along with my husband, we took our son and his friend to this museum. The establishment has been in existence since 2017. Who knew…not me.😌. It was great to see and a start to the kids’ understanding of RICH African-American history in the country. Our tour guide was awesome. We salute you‼️

Lackluster… just being honest. It’s nothing more than framed pictures with label maker descriptions. We all have to start somewhere, but this is not it. The tour guide was pleasant, but as we inquired about certain pictures, she had to step away and Google the answers. The thing that amused me the most was her “wand/pointer” with a Mickey Mouse hand at the top. Seriously?

The space isn’t what I expected. It could use an update. However, it is a thoroughly and thoughtfully curated exhibit. Our guide Keeda (sp?) was outstanding. She was a wealth of knowledge, which was beyond impressive. We learned so much about HBCUs and black history in general. It’s definitely a space we plan to visit again and probably again.
