It started with shadowy meetings in the dead of night. Then it transformed into an elite association of those in the culinary know. At its head is a charismatic leader, Chef David Anthony Temple—DAT to the initiated. But it's not a secret society with plans of global domination or even a humble moon laser—it's Twenty Seven, the anchored offshoot of DAT's mobile Underground Dinner series.
Though the Underground Dinners are no more, Twenty-Seven continues in the same spirit of culinary creativity, asking only that diners put their faith in DAT's considerable culinary talents. His prix fixe dinners are anything but traditional, featuring innovative combinations of local ingredients that draw on Cajun, Creole, and Latin American cuisines. Though the main attraction is served by reservation only, walk-in diners are welcome to sample from the a la carte menu, served every night from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
