What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? Tutoring for ages K-12th grade in math, reading and science. We are the only learning center to use certified teachers as our tutors. Custom designed programs fit each child's particular needs. We work hand in hand with your child's school teacher to identify areas to concentrate on. Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring? The material we use is by Pearson Education, the same material your child will use in their school classroom. We have an outstanding Early Reader program that is taught by one of our best teachers. We have seen impressive results for young children learning to read What was the inspiration to start or run this business? I am a teacher, first and foremost. I spent my career teaching 8th grade science and I maintain my state teaching license. Noting a definite need to be able to teach children in a closer, more personal environment and being tired of the politics of the local public school system, I started this bus. What do you love most about your job? Seeing the light bulbs go on in young kids heads when they finally "get it", when they grasp a difficult concept and you see that little smile of accomplishment on their face. Never gets old and keeps me going. I love being able to give back to the community and our next generation this way.

  • Escape Room BCS
Despite their best efforts, friends and families are often lulled into activities that force them to be sedentary and quiet, like going out to a movie or meditating in an old, abandoned planetarium. Not so at Escape Room BCS. Here, groups of all ages are encouraged to be creative, vocal, and feverishly active. No matter which scenario they choose, players must find clues, solve riddles, and crack the code to set them free. And with just 60 minutes on the clock, communication and teamwork are just as important as quick wits.

  • HeliBacon
Zooming at over 80 knots just 100 feet above the ground, the helicopter creates a gyrating shadow that skims rapidly over the Texas brush. Tethered safely inside the chopper but leaning out the wide-open cabin doors are several HeliBacon clients, each wielding a loaded AR-15 rifle and scanning the ground for signs of movement. Just as the shadow passes over a patch of tall grass, a group of wild hogs emerges and splinters in every direction. Rising in unison, the AR-15s level and lock onto the sprinting animals and fell several, effectively paring down the numbers of this invasive and destructive species. The sport of hog-hunting has gone airborne not because pigs have learned to fly but because farmers need as much help as possible controlling the wild-hog population, which ruins acres of crops. Rather than air-dropping cease-and-desist letters, HeliBacon hands the duty over to civilians looking for a memorable hunting experience. The hunt begins with a safety course that covers shooting fundamentals and safety precautions. Once the helicopter lifts off, it cruises for two hours or more while hunters nab as many hogs as they can. HeliBacon also offers a number of other aerial services, from providing tours of local cities to photographing businesses or real estate from the air. The company further assists local farmers in crop pollination, land surveys, and cattle herding.

  • Kingwood Aviators
What makes your business stand out? While you might think a Flying Club is all about airplanes, it's really about people . . . who share a common interest. It's the people who make any Flying Club stand out, and ours surely do. One of our founders not only co-owns several of the planes but donates his time and skills to maintain them. Many of our instructors don't have to teach; they want to. They're there to share their experiences and enjoy the aviation related experiences of others. What inspired the owner to start or run this business? The founders of the Club started it to help making flying more accessible to those wanting to fly. By combining resources, costs come down. It doesn't hurt, either, that you get to make new friends with similar interests. What is your most popular offering? The student pilot/new pilot training program is probably the most popular offering of the Club, due to the greatly discounted cost over commercial schools. The rental fleet comes in a very close second, however, since there are simple planes for basic VFR pilots, a tailwheel aircraft and even a complex aircraft great for travel, all at excellent rates. Anything else you want to add that we didn't cover? The social aspect of a Flying Club is often greatly overlooked. You might be surprised to learn how often the elderly gentleman sitting next to you turns out to have been a P-51 pilot during WWII or the little old lady a few tables over helped build bombers; or that the fellow pulling a small Cessna across the tarmac with a golf cart flies 737 jumbo jets for his day job. What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a customer? Recently an elderly lady went up for her first ever flight. Since she said her dream was to "touch the clouds" our pilot removed the door from the Citabria so provide a more open experience. She was elated! What’s your favorite part about your job? Helping those who have dreamed of being involved in aviation realize that it can be a part of their lives. Business Basics Established: 2009 Handicap Accessible: No Staff Size: 2–10 people Parking: Parking lot Reservations/Appointments: Required Most popular offering: Discount Flight Training and Rentals Pro Tip: Bring shades and a cap with a brim when flying—and dress cool (no a/c!). Wear sunscreen when watching!
