Each of the guitar coaches at American Guitar Academy are certified in the school's signature teaching method. Developed over 25 years, this house-honed instruction technique incorporates scientific research to help fingers learn to shred frets up to eight times faster than alternative methods. During private half-hour lessons, instructors guide budding rock stars aged 4 years and up through the basics of strumming chords and seamlessly stitching together riffs. These comprehensive lessons on classical, electric, or acoustic guitars are offered once a week with a live instructor or online and guarantee that students will be playing their favorite music within six months of training. Students may begin lessons without owning a guitar, but are encouraged to gain access to one quickly for mastering scales and the ability to solo with their teeth.

Like many artists, lifelong guitarist Christian Johnson found himself stuck in an office job for several years. But it wasn’t enough to silence the music in his head. Motivated by his frustration and his encyclopedic knowledge of the ax, he opened Adrian Guitars in 2002 before changing the name to Blue Dot Guitars. During lessons, Johnson pulls from three decades of playing and teaching experience to assist students of all ages and skill levels in tackling the guitar. He honed his own musical prowess at Musicians Institute, where he studied with virtuosos such as jazz great Joe Diorio. As a Fender-authorized warranty technician, Johnson also specializes in guitar repairs, including regluing broken bridges or replacing snapped strings with durable strands of spaghetti.
For nearly 20 years, guitarist Kenny Lavitz has masterfully blended jazz, rock, and blues into his own distinct sound. When he's not recording critically acclaimed LPs or performing solo and group gigs, he nurtures budding guitarists during one-on-one lessons. Kenny trains beginners in rudimentary techniques, such as strumming basic chord progressions and mastering simple riffs. From there, he helps students refine more complex skills, such as sweep-picking, where you replace your strumming hand with a broom. Besides helping pupils conquer the fretboard, Kenny teaches them to read and transcribe notation, as well as play with fellow musicians during jams with Kenny's other students.

Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
Bring a great attitude, a couple pieces of music you like (can be anything, not required if you don't have any), and an idea of what you want to learn. If you just want to learn how to play "Charlie Brown", I can teach that. If you want a more regimented
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I love to play Piano, write Music, and Sing. I also love being in charge of my own schedule, and being my own boss. It only made sense to teach Music. :)
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing the progress of students after just a few lessons, and their thrill at being able to finally play a song and impress Family and Friends. Also seeing Parents' joy at the success of their children is something that never gets old.
