The SoVA Wine Trail lets groups experience its 12 participating wineries through food and wine tasting events, aiming to introduce visitors to the finest vintages crafted by local residents. The events provide the opportunity to chat personally with winemakers and vineyard owners, pairing their bottled beverages with bites from local restaurants. On the east side, wine lovers stop at Molliver Vineyards, which is located on a property that dates back to the 1700s, and Bright Meadows Farm, a winery that operates out of a 117-year-old barn. On the west side, the Brooks Mill Winery doles out fruit wines, and the White Oak Mountain Meadery lets visitors taste the drink our ancient ancestors preferred to drink when they ran out of Mountain Dew.
Every year on the third Saturday in August, the Clover Hill Village Wine Festival unpacks for a full day of sipping and snacking. The day features live music, kids activities, and a smorgasbord of different vendors, and proceeds raised by the event ensure the village itself continues to prosper. Here's what you can expect this year:
Wine: A total of 10 wineries will be on hand, including Mountain Cover Vineyards, Peaks of Otter Winery, Bright Meadows Farm, and more.
Food: Local chefs will be doling out their eats, including Gregory's Grill (seafood), No Butts About It (Barbecue), and El Cabrito's (Mexican).
Extras: Nearly 30 additional vendors will participate, too, selling everything from cigars and fragrances to jams, jellies, and exotic oils.

Every year, horses, dogs, and the people who love them unite at Johnson's Orchards for the annual Horse & Hound Wine Festival. Guests can sip some of Virginia's best wines while watching equestrian events such as water racing, jousting, and the parade of horses. But the entertainment doesn't stop with the steeds. Attendees can also expect a day's worth of live music and family-friendly events, from a kiddie corral designed to keep children entertained to contests that test dogs' agility and training.
Planning a wedding can be extremely stressful, but the Wedding & Wine Festival hopes to take the edge off by pairing the planning process with wine tastings from local wineries. After decorating their tasting glasses with special markers and then filling them up, brides and grooms can stroll the Green Hill House. Here, a variety of wedding vendors—including caterers, lighting companies, and entertainers—chat with couples while other wedding specialists show them how to execute Pinterest projects and offer general wedding ideas.
But perhaps the biggest draw of the day is the Bridal Bazaar, a bridal flea market that supplies brides and grooms with a variety of items they can use for their ceremony, reception, and post-wedding puppet reenactment.
