  • Vega Dance Lab
After several years of suffering through classes filled with tweens, or missing sessions because of rigid scheduling, Evie Graham started her own dance studio. At Vega Dance Lab, everyone from people who have never strapped on groove shoes to seasoned students aged 16 and older can school their left feet or untalented dancing bears in nine dances on a drop-in basis. Shuffle-savvy instructors school pupils in proper ballet technique, burlesque-inspired choreography, and hip-hop cabaret, where dancers perform hip-hop moves with a cabaret-inspired flair. Teachers also integrate dance into intensive workouts such as Cardio Funk, an exercise regimen set to hip-hop music, or Tease & Tone, a session divided between 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of dance. Lessons kick off six days a week in Vega Dance Lab?s spacious, graffiti-decorated warehouse where students can test their latest moves by dancing out of the way of oncoming forklifts.

The studio welcomes students of all skill and experience levels, offering a full schedule of classes (regularly valued at $12 per class) that vary in degree of difficulty. Schedule your classes online by creating an account, starting with at least one level-one lesson (required) to ensure that you're all brushed up on the boogie basics.

  • Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra
Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra satiates culture-hungry eardrums with creative, conceptual concerts studded with guest string-stars from across the country. The British Influence adheres to its name, focusing on three non-British composers?Romantic-era maestro Felix Mendelssohn, German composer Max Bruch, and 20th-century Australian pianist Percy Grainger?that were inspired to orchestrate masterful works after brushes with the landscapes, traditions, or culture of England, Ireland, and Scotland. Accomplished violinist and Portland native JiYun Jeong joins the symphony once again, helping to weave a tapestry of royal reminiscence on Bruch?s Violin Concerto no. 1 in G Minor.
