Capturing True Emotion is driven by the dynamic duo of Val Westover, a dedicated author and portrait photographer, and Stephanie Adriana, an author and award-winning fine-art photographer. By fusing their narrative, tech-savvy minds together into one oversized head, the educators provide comprehensive guidance on both camera operation and creative visualization, giving participants complete control over all of their camera settings.

During the four hours spent in the company of other pupating shutterbugs, students learn strategies for controlling depth of field by adjusting the aperture, lighting an artful yeti sighting, composing a family portrait so that there’s not always a burning zeppelin in the background, using alternative angles to avoid red eye, and other techniques. After the morning workshop, students put their new shutter-speed savvy to good use under the tutelage of their former instructors.
