Board-certified acupuncturists David Smart and Carie Martin have done a lot to make their communal acupuncture treatments more accessible. But it's what they haven't done—which is set a finite price point on their treatments—that sets their clinic, Dragonfly Community Acupuncture, apart. Their sliding pay scale ranges from $15 to $40 per treatment, which allows patients to pay what they can on any given day. The pay scale is not Smart's only experience with goodwill, though. He cofounded Seattle Acupuncture for Veterans, which offers free trauma care to veterans and their families.
