Held twice a month, the two-hour Beer 101 course teaches students the history of beer and the ability to differentiate the ingredients that make up their favorite suds. The class sips five featured beers, including seasonal varieties such as pumpkin-flavored beer, to learn their intricacies. Beer 101 is taught by a published expert with more than 20 years of experience.
Mixology 101, intended for home bartenders, involves the basics of setting up a home bar and glassware, including cutting bar fruit, acquiring utensils, and a list of all the liquors needed. Students learn to make one of each featured drink, including mojitos, highball drinks, and martinis.
Professional barkeeps can learn the tricks of flair bartending during a five-week, four-hour class that meets on Saturdays. After equipping students with a flair bottle, tin, and instructional pamphlet, the teachers reveal the secrets to bottle tricks that bring in tips and toe the rarely considered line between juggling and bartending.<p>
