A Chat with Ashley Simpson @ Sola Salon Studios
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I have done hair for 10 years, all for Redken elite salons and taught for four years at a Redken Academy. I take six or more specialty training classes a year to stay abreast of current styles, trends, and techniques.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I wanted to have flexible hours so I can be available when I’m needed; you never know when someone [will have] a hair emergency! I wanted to have more time and space for my creativity and privacy for the customers to relax and enjoy their services.
What do you love most about your job?
I believe that when you look good you feel good. To know that I can be a part of making someone excited to wake up in the morning, style their hair, and walk through the day with confidence makes me feel like I’ve made a small difference.
What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a customer?
That I take my time during my consultation so that everyone is comfortable with the service before I even get started. I explain what I’m doing while I’m doing it so the client can reproduce the look at home, and can always come back for a tutorial.
