Fiji After arriving in Nadi, Fiji, you’ll settle in at First Landing Beach Resort and Villas or a similar property, where you’ll stay for the next three days as you explore some of Fiji’s more than 300 lush islands. It’s easy to navigate from Lautoka to the nearby archipelago of Mamanuca on a day-cruise. Lonely Planet calls these breathtaking, coral-fringed islands “Fiji’s movie stars” for their roles in such films as The Blue Lagoon and Cast Away. Snorkeling is a popular pastime; beneath the bright blue waters you can see tropical fish and a colorful coral reef.
Christchurch A brief flight brings you to Christchurch, New Zealand—nicknamed “The Garden City” for its abundance of nature reserves and parks. Set along the Avon River, the Christchurch Botanic Gardens spread across more than 50 acres filled with old-growth trees, rare orchids, cacti, and alpine plants. You can see it all from above on a gondola ride alongside the river. The nearby Waipara Valley wine region features close to 80 vineyards, many of which offer tastings and tours. During your time in Christchurch, you’ll stay at The Ashley Hotel.
Dunedin Just south of Christchurch on the Otago Peninsula sits Dunedin, one of New Zealand’s most historically significant cities. The coast is dotted with stately mansions that date back to the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Take a wildlife tour to see rare yellow-eyed penguins and a royal albatross colony. Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin will serve as your headquarters during this leg of the trip.
Te Anau Located on New Zealand’s South Island, Te Anau takes its name from the large lake it borders. Spend the night at Kingsgate Hotel Te Anau. Te Anau has been nicknamed the “gateway to the fiords” since it’s located just a scenic two-hour drive from Milford Sound, where you’ll see steep peaks and waterfalls cascading down vertical rock walls.
Queenstown Queenstown has been lauded as one of the world’s great spots for adventure and daredevilry—after all, this is where bungee jumping first took off. Other adrenaline-spiking activities include mountain biking, paragliding, and swinging on a rope over Shotover Canyon. You’ll enjoy a two-night stay at Copthorne Hotel and Resort Queenstown Lakefront before heading back to Christchurch overnight for your departure flight.
