The Scouting Report
As the Professional Arena Soccer League's defending Central Division champions, the Sidekicks have cruised through the 2013-14 campaign, posting a 9-2 record thus far–including a flawless 5-0 mark during home games at Allen Event Center. With just three home games remaining in the regular season, the team will continue to protect its home turf during matches on January 25 and 31. The first comes against the intrastate rival Strikers, a club the Sidekicks dominated by winning 15-1 on January 11. Then, just six days later, the Pacific Division-leading Legends rumble into town for a showdown that could determine which club ends up with the PASL's best record, and which gets stuck with the hassle of watering the league's indoor turf gardens all offseason.
A new iteration of the decorated soccer club of the same name that disbanded in 2004, the Dallas Sidekicks hope to rekindle a championship soccer tradition in the Professional Arena Soccer League. Living up to their proud lineage will be no small task; the Sidekicks were one of indoor soccer's dominant teams in the ‘80s and ‘90s, winning four championships and five division titles between 1986 and 2004, with the aid of famed Brazilian players Tatu and Sagu. The Sidekicks rumble across the turf at Allen Arena with the help of a loyal fanbase and the Purple Chaos, who show their allegiance by wearing purple bodysuits to every game and adhering to a strict grape-juice-only diet.
