Tuzer Ballet’s company of talented pre-professionals delights audiences with ballet’s beautiful motion during shows that meld traditional and modern style. In the company’s 27th presentation of The Nutcracker, Boston Ballet soloist Rie Ichikawa and former American Ballet Theater principal Carlos Molina join the students to present Tchaikovsky’s beloved holiday tale. With lavish costumes and spectacular sets, the ballet transports audiences to a Christmas wonderland of militant mice, enchanted gifts, and eccentric extended family members. As dancers arc and twirl through the freshly choreographed show, even wee audience members follow the tale’s dreamlike events, from the fighting rodents to the protagonist’s discovery that he was on Earth all along.
