Club Morocco: A Swing Music Musical
When hard-boiled private detective Frank McCann struts into Club Morocco, the joint is jumpin'. The band of hep-cats in zoot suits have everybody swinging, the dancing dames have the fellas hot under the collar, and lording over the scene is owner, gangster, and all-around bad guy Torch Tangier. He runs a tight ship, and tries to keep the customer satisfied. But there's one patron who won't be satisfied until it’s curtains for Torch, and that's Frank McCann. On a one-night quest for revenge and romantic reconciliation, Frank has one ace in his hole—everybody thinks he's dead.
Loaded with high-kicking dance numbers and plenty of snappy gumshoe banter, Club Morocco transforms the stage into a classic 1940's nightclub with its comic twist on Casablanca and other film noir classics. The audience is welcome to dance along to the soundtrack of classic swing tunes, including hits from legends including Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Cab Calloway, and Louis Prima. It’s the snazzy brainchild of show creators Barbara F. Cullen and Jon Huffman, whose love of classic stories inspired them to create the immersive performance.
