Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party
Queenie and Burrs seem to be perfect for each other: both are passionate and voracious and a bit unpredictable. But after a stretch of satisfaction, their relationship has begun to sour, mostly due to Burrs’ wild temper. Still, Queenie isn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet, so she suggests they throw a party in their Manhattan apartment. Everyone comes, from Eddie the thug to Jackie the dancer and Nadine the minor. Soon Burrs is making moves on the other women, causing Queenie to get jealous and make moves on the other men, which stokes Burrs into a jealous rage. Fights break out, a pistol is produced, and a shot goes off—leading to a tragic and unpredictable end.
