A very good value and far more interesting than I expected. This was a stop to stretch our legs and have something to look at and we ended up being their several hours. The Psychiatric part of the exhibit was both informative and empathetic to the mental health population. The African American exhibit and Native American exhibits were well done as well and sensitive. I highly recommend it as a stop on your road trip but don't expect it to be an in and out stop. Very well done.

Took a mini vacation to St Joe from Omaha and this was the highlight of our trip! The staff are so wonderful and welcoming, plus the museum is very cool! It was so neat to see the facility and everything inside, definitely one of a kind. You should go!

It was very informative and was wonderful that the other museums were included. The only disappointment was the Doll museum was very small yet they advertise they have 1500 dolls in the collection. Glore itself was great and it would be wonderful if they added an audio tour.

About Glore Psychiatric Museum

There's nothing like learning about medicine of the past to make us grateful for today's doctors. The Glore Psychiatric Museum illustrates how far health care has come by taking guests on a fascinating—and sometimes gruesome—journey into State Lunatic Asylum No. 2, which opened in 1874. Through interactive exhibits and artifacts, the museum, which has been featured on PBS and the Discovery Channel, shows what daily life at the hospital was like over the course of its history. In addition to hospital paraphernalia such as confinement boxes and uniforms, the Glore showcases artwork created by those suffering from mental-health disorders, and includes pottery, paintings, drawings, and needlework.
