Outside of a 5K race, the best way to test people's endurance is to see how long they can listen to a radio play-by-play of a 5K race. Take on a real challenge with this Groupon.
$15 for Life Time Torchlight 5K Run Entry (Up to $30 Value)
The 5K race begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 13. Participants can run or walk. Registration includes a participant T-shirt—guaranteed for those who register before October 12—and admission to the post-race party at Life Time Athletic with access to complimentary refreshments and the VIP area.
Life Time Fitness Torchlight 5K
At twilight, runners of all experience levels queue up to embark on the Life Time Torchlight 5K, which leads them on a scenic, private-course jaunt through Summerlin roads and neighborhoods that overlook Red Rock Canyon, National Conservation Area. Runners and walkers pass the Red Rock Hotel and Casino toward the end of the race as microchips determine the top 10 male and female finishers, each of whom receives recognition and prizes. Participants’ final paces carry them into the post-race party—a highlight of the event that can be enjoyed by runners and non-runners alike. Live music suffuses the air, and beer and a host of free refreshments help pavement pounders celebrate their successful races without reenactments that require friends to lie down and play the finish line.
Commitment Day 5K Run
On 10 a.m. on the first day of 2013, City Park's Great Lawn will fill with people ready to start the year off not with a resolution, but a commitment—a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. They'll run, walk, or jay-walk through the park and Marconi Drive on the flat, fast course, which it circles back to the Great Lawn where they started. After the race, runners can stick around for a post-race party to celebrate a successful first morning of the New Year.
In more than 30 cities across the nation, other runners will be participating in similar events as part of a movement that aims to stymie the rising rates of obesity and inaction in the United States.
