Chocolate is known to chemically spark feelings of affection, particularly when it's presented in a heart-shaped box or lovingly poured over a diamond necklace. Aromatically induce romance with today's Groupon: for $12, you get a half dozen chocolate-dipped strawberries at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Grand Blanc (a $24 value).
The cocoa captains at each Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory location handcraft more than 300 varieties of confection from quality ingredients. At their laboratory inside a Cold Stone Creamery, the gourmands at the Grand Blanc location help fresh, juicy strawberries into a new chocolate coat and proffer the morsels to the masses in boxes of six. Each box makes for a delicious Valentine's Day gift for a romantic partner or unemployed Cupid.
Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory
Even though Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has locations throughout the world, it still maintains the small-town candy-store feel envisioned by its creator and CEO, Frank Crail. Crail founded the original location in his adopted hometown of Durango, Colorado, filling the sweet-smelling space with homey accents, such as candy-making demonstrations and games of Pin the Tail on the Chocolatier. Behind the counter, staffers roll fresh granny smith apples in dense caramel and mold lumps of rich fudge on old-style marble slabs. Other fresh confections include mint bark, chocolate-dipped pretzels, and boxed chocolates.
