The gates to this year's Forge Through Hell 5K Extreme Challenge open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 19. Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., waves of brave souls will embark on this year's series of grueling obstacles. Participants will be granted a wristband for facing each of 10 main challenges, which will determine which color medal they're awarded at the end to complement their participant dog tag.
At 3 p.m., the after-party starts, complete with music, food vendors, and a complimentary drink (runners over 21 with ID can opt for a Budweiser). Parking is $5 per vehicle, which, like other event proceeds, benefits the Arthritis Foundation.
Forge Through Hell
Sweat mingles with sawdust, mud, and maybe even a few tears of laughter at Forge Through Hell's obstacle races. They aren't timed, but that says nothing about the challenge the courses pose to participants' mental and physical endurance. Military-style obstacles require runners to plunge through mud and water, crawl across wooden arbors and scale angled walls, and even run through fire while covered in delicious marshmallows. After each wave of 20–50 runners completes the course, they head to a post-run party to recuperate with live music and beer.
